Scope Nights 2.6 – A Fresh Update for Stargazers ✨

I’m pleased to let you know that Scope Nights version 2.6 is now available on the App Store. This free update brings full compatibility with iOS 26 and the latest iPhones and iPads. I’ve refreshed a lot of the internal workings so the app feels quicker and more responsive, especially when switching between forecasts or locations. Importantly, this release also fixes the global forecast outage, so worldwide astronomy forecasts are once again running properly.

Forecasts themselves have also had a significant upgrade. With version 2.6, the app now uses the latest APIs to provide hourly short‑range stargazing forecasts, giving you much finer detail when planning your observing sessions.

The dark sky map and observatory listings have had a thorough update too. If you use Scope Nights to discover new stargazing spots, plan trips to dark‑sky sites, or plan robotic telescope sessions, this should make life a little easier.

There are also plenty of smaller refinements that help the app feel more modern — cleaner UI tweaks for readability, and better stability across all devices.

Behind the scenes, I’ve been working on some bigger steps forward. Version 3 will introduce a new foundation for Scope Nights and unlock new capabilities, so there’s more to look forward to.

Thank you again for supporting Scope Nights. Whether you’re observing from your back garden, a certified dark‑sky site, or a remote observatory, I hope version 2.6 helps you enjoy clearer skies and more rewarding nights under the stars.

Clear skies!
